Pet of the Week & Local Adopt-A-Pets
Name: Gemini
Gender: Female, Spayed
Size: Medium
Age: 2 years old
Color: Domestic Medium Haired Tortoiseshell
Gemini was surrendered to Garland Animal Services by her previous owner. She soon became a pound favorite and most of the employees really liked her and wanted to keep her around because she was so extremely sweet and pretty. However, slow adoptions and overcrowding caused her time to max out, and she would either need to be pulled by a rescue group or euthanized. In March, NBCR happily rescued this lovely girl and added her to our adoption program.
Tortoiseshell cats are not a specific breed. It is really a specific genetic coloring pattern. Torties don’t have to have tortie parents, and they are always born female, with only an occasional male being born. However, these males are always sterile.
For her part, Gemini is a great cat who enjoys being touched and petted, and purrs instantly when you do. She likes making “biscuits" in your lap, and is quite content to curl up next to you for a nap. You won't find a sweeter kitty than Gemini.
